The Pismo Beach business community celebrated its top citizen and business during its annual awards dinner and board installation.
The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner at Ventana Grill, including chamber members and local dignitaries.
Longtime property owner and advocate Don Day was awarded Citizen of the Year. Day was noted for being active in downtown improvements, as well as his efforts to raise funds each year for the Pismo Beach Police Department K-9 program.
Morovino Wines owners Andrea and David Bradford were honored as Business of the Year. Morovino specializes in Italian varietals, but the couple is active on the chamber board, as well as volunteer organizations throughout Pismo Beach and Avila Beach.
Pismo Beach Mayor Ed Waage administered the oath of office for the new board of directors, including Chairman Tom Burgher, owner of Seaside Gallery.
Following the annual dinner, the new board met on Saturday for a planning and strategy retreat.
“These people are all natural leaders and great representatives of the Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, and Avila Beach business communities,” said Burgher. “With their energy, ideas, and commitment, we are going to earn the reputation for being the best, most enthusiastic, and innovative beach city Chamber of Commerce in the state of California.”
