Chef Doug MacMillan of Rosa’s Italian Restaurant won the Judge’s Choice in the Taste Buds Best Chef Competition Sunday.
Five Central Coast restaurant chefs competed in a Chopped-style competition at the Inspired Home, Garden & Gourmet Expo at the Paso Robles Event Center.
The chefs included in the competition were MacMillan, Chef Casey Walcott of SeaVenture Restaurant and Chef Slavic Popovich of Cracked Crab, both of Pismo Beach, and Chef Chris Beckett of Fish Gaucho and Chef Kurt Metzger of Thomas Hill Organics, both of Paso Robles.
The chefs were all given Talley Farms Fresh Harvest boxes filled with the same organic ingredients, as well as meat from Larder Co. The chefs demonstrated their recipe to standing-room-only crowds at the expo, then served up their creations to be judged separately by a secret panel and attendees of the expo.
