2017 La Guitarra California Festival

Tickets are on sale for Cal Poly Arts’ 2017 La Guitarra California Festival, a 3-day celebration of classical guitar music set for Sept. 22-24.
Touted as a “Celebration of Guitar” the festival features 12, world-renowned artists playing nine concerts, leading five master classes, a free outdoor concert, two guitar auctions, an exhibit of guitar-themed art, and dozens of guitar makers displaying their instruments in a vendor fair.
Opening Night is dedicated to Maestro, Christopher Parkening, and begins with Russian virtuoso, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, winner of the 2012 Guitar Foundation of America competition, followed by a video on Parkening’s stellar career. After receiving the La Guitarra Lifetime Achievement Award, Parkening will perform a brief recital with acclaimed baritone, Jubilant Sykes.
Other artists are: Meng Su of China, Jason Vieaux and Marc Teicholz of the U.S.A., Jérémy Jouve of France, Celil Refik Kaya of Turkey, Johannes Möller of Sweden, and Laura Fraticelli of Argentina.

Concert tickets are reserved seating and most are $30 (includes fees and parking) and held either in the Performing Arts Center or the Spanos Theater on Cal Poly campus. The free outdoor concert is from 3:15-3:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Spanos Theater Courtyard and features Guitar Orchestra. The 2-hour master classes are $12.50. Get tickets on the website.
